Writers can submit work to : papergirlbne@hotmail.com
Papergirl Brisbane is a cultural initiative which works to bridge the gap between the wider public of Brisbane, and the local artists and writers who live here. In the style of American paperboys, art and writing is collected from the local creative community, exhibited in a gallery, rolled up, and then distributed by bicycle to the random passers-by in Brisbane’s CBD.
Anyone who wishes to be involved is invited to participate, regardless of age, education, profession, gender, or location. Artworks accepted include everything from drawings to poems, songs, and stories.
Submissions aren’t curated for Papergirl, everything submitted is used, so the artists and writers decide what will be given away in distribution. The exhibition itself will be held at White Canvas Gallery on 03 February 2012.

Venue: Avid Reader Bookshop, 193 Boundary Street West End

Writing About Writing – the Who, Why, When and How of Metafiction with Chris Currie and Karen Pickering Sunday 16th of October Avid Reader Bookshop, 193 Boundary Street West End 3.00pm for a 3.30pm start
Writing about writing is a genre that writers just can’t seem to get enough of – and with good reason. Reading about the habits and hints of fellow writers can be incredibly instructive, and endlessly fascinating in a voyeuristic kind of way.
Join Avid’s own Chris Currie and Karen Pickering at this special Avid Reader Emerging Writers’ Festival event to talk about the ins and out of writing about writing: why we like it and how to do it well.
A Sunday afternoon of writers talking to writers about writing about writing – yeah, it’ll get meta.
For more information visit the Avid Reader website, or contact Krissy Kneen or James Butler at events@avidreader.com.au or call 07 3846 3422
